Case Study: Streamlivr – A Livestreaming App Built for Creators, Performers, and Fans
Streamlivr is a video livestream mobile app designed for creators, performers, and fans who love to stream, perform, and connect. My role was to design a modern, creator-friendly interface that enables seamless live performances, real-time fan engagement, and earning through digital gifts.
1. Discover – Understanding the Challenge
The first step was understanding the ecosystem — from creator goals to audience expectations.
Client Goals:
Create a mobile platform where creators can:
Go live effortlessly
Engage with fans through real-time features
Monetize content via virtual gifting and wallet integration
User Research:
I interviewed creators, entertainers, and digital fans to understand what they love and hate about current platforms (e.g., TikTok Live, Bigo Live).
Key Insight:
“Creators want more control and visibility, while fans want low-friction viewing and fun ways to support their favorites.”
2. Ideate – Shaping the Experience
Armed with insights, I sketched out the app structure and refined the user flow.
Core Flows Identified:
Creator onboarding & verification
Going live in 3 taps
Livestream viewer interface (with reactions, comments, gifting)
Wallet & coin system
Profile management (both creator & viewer)
Wireframes & Feedback:
Low-fidelity wireframes were created to explore:
Livestream layout with live chat and gifting
Fan interaction mechanics
Creator earnings dashboard
Decision:
We focused on simplicity and clarity — a clean layout for fans and a powerful dashboard for creators.
3. Design – Crafting the Visual Experience
With the structure locked in, I brought Streamlivr to life visually.
Design Tools:
All UI designs were created in Figma, with dark mode aesthetics, sharp edges, and strong visual hierarchy to appeal to a Gen Z creator base.
Visual Language:
Dark UI with accent highlights to make live content pop
Bold typography for creator names and stats
Floating, thumb-reachable buttons for quick gifting and reactions
Interactive Prototype:
A clickable prototype showcased the entire flow:
User opens the app
Browses live streams
Taps to enter a stream
Engages with comments/gifts
Views the creator profile or follows
4. Test & Refine – Improving What Matters
I ran usability tests to uncover hidden friction and refine the experience.
Usability Testing:
We tested with both streamers and viewers. Key issues emerged:
Some icons were unclear (especially the gift icon)
Users didn’t fully understand the “coin-to-cash” earning model
Going live had too many steps
Final Adjustments:
Added tooltips and onboarding walkthrough
Simplified “Go Live” into a 2-step process
Created a visual wallet dashboard that explains earnings and withdrawals clearly
5. Deliver – From Design to Development
I prepared and handed off all assets for development, including:
Figma design files with reusable components
Design system (colors, typography, icon sets, spacing)
Developer documentation for animation and transitions
Support during implementation and QA
Conclusion
Streamlivr now offers a creator-first livestreaming experience that’s simple to use, highly engaging, and revenue-friendly for performers.
Results after implementation (beta stage):
+65% increase in average live stream duration
+48% higher fan engagement (gifts, comments, reactions)
+72% growth in daily creator signups
Designing for creators means designing for expression, speed, and sustainability.
Streamlivr brings all of that into one powerful app experience.
